EXPLORE THE LOCAL HISTORY

Text by scribe Valdemir Mota de Menezes

I believe that history teachers do not value the discussion of local history for several reasons such as: The teacher is committed to follow the curriculum of the school system and do not feel comfortable about leaving the lesson plan. Secondly, many teachers lack the time or interest did not seek to know the local history, therefore no one will talk about something you do not know. Thirdly I think this information picturesque and accessible locations are not as well. However, that argument is not as strong. Because while writing this article while researching on google about a small town in the smallest state in Brazil (Sergipe), where I was born, and is not that precious historical information found in small towns with 13 000 inhabitants as Friar Paul?

To those who will follow a teaching career, explore the local history seems a good way to arouse students' curiosity.
